East Anglia enjoys a special place in the history of British art, through its links with major artists from Gainsborough to Constable and the Norwich School to Munnings.
They found inspiration among the region's leafy lanes and hedgerows and we believe those who enjoy capturing its appeal in paint and pencil feel a special bond when they set up among the many attractions in the countryside.
In partnership with the National Trust we are able to offer a series of Paintaway Days, which give an opportunity to work in the grounds of some of the region's finest houses, among them Wimpole Hall, the spectacular Ickworth House, the glorious gardens of Anglesey Abbey and the gracious Jacobean mansion, Westwood Park near Colchester.
Paintaway Days begin at 10am with coffee and an input from our tutor. The rest of the day is spent painting with tutor support as needed in delightful corners of the gardens. Lunch is optional; feel free to bring your own or visit the National Trust restaurant. The day ends around 4.30pm with coffee/tea and a critique.
