You may not feel the urge to paint, the passion that prompted your partner to sample Tuscany, France, Andalucia or Exmoor. But the locations they have chosen are ideal for a glorious idyll and we are able to extend the houseparty atmosphere that pervades meal-times and evenings to all activities – or none!

There is space enough to enjoy views and comfortable corners uninterrupted by earnest artists and local villages, interesting in their own right, are typical of the region.

Above all you have the freedom to do exactly what you want to do. Alternatively, course we welcome suggestions and requests that can open up the very special charms of these areas.

We have taken pains to avoid slick hotels in favour of friendly locations off the tourist track with a personality very much their own, refreshing escapes from the commercialised bustle of resorts and cities. Pleasure is to be found in extensive parkland, or walking the hills and country lanes, visiting neighbouring small towns. All are justifiably proud of their individual attractions and museums.

Food is, naturally, an important part of our holidays. Following continental breakfast there is a light lunch. The evening meal is enjoyed either where we stay or at selected local restaurants.

We hope you will share any or all the excursions arranged for the artists.

Although our Italian and Spanish venues offer pleasant bars, the chateau does not have bar facilities so we have arranged a selection of drinks to be available in the comfortable Medieval Room for our guests at modest cost. You will certainly want to sample the local wines!
