Welcome to Painting ActivitiesSuperbe painting activities in Europe and the United Kingdom

Some abroad and some closer to home

We have been running tutor-led week-long art holidays in stunning locations off the tourist track for several years and a measure of their success is the number of referrals and returners we greet year by year. Favourite locations include Tuscany and the Loire Valley plus other stunning locations across Europe and the UK.

Each of our team of tutors is respected in their field as working artists and qualified to teach all abilities in all media.  Eager to pass on their enthusiasm for the arts, they are as happy to introduce painters to new techniques as to provide guidance to experienced artists. They never forget that their students are spending a holiday following a passion and although the end of each week customarily is celebrated by an informal exhibition of the work produced, the days are relaxed and include visits, sketchbook walks and a daily constructive critique. At the same time we know artists are as keen to paint as to go sightseeing so we seek to offer a programme aimed at achieving a balance between the two.

Non-painting partners are not neglected and we are on hand to advise on walks etc. They share the houseparty atmosphere, such an important feature of Painting Activities holidays (also previously known as Interests Abroad holidays), and visits to nearby art centres and selected restaurants to sample the best of local food and wines.

Our Painting Activities holidays are largely programmed off-season when a warm sun only wanly shining at home - casts a special light.  The week begins and ends with transfers from and to the airport or railhead and includes all accommodation, tuition, meals and wine although we like to give guests at least one opportunity on their visit to select a meal from an a la carte menu.

Low-cost airline Ryanair flies from London Stansted into Pisa for Tuscany, Tours for the Loire Valley, Limoges for the Limousin, and Jerez for Andalucia. They also fly into Genoa, which is a good alternative, connected as it is by rail with Pisa.  Easyjet fly from a number of UK airports to Geneva for the French Alps. Because all these services are popular, it is essential to take advantage of their fares by securing flights early following booking an Painting Activities holiday. For guests preferring to drive, and often incorporating a painting holiday with more time in Europe, we provide details of how to reach us.
